      Deze nieuwsbrief verschijnt 1 keer per 3 weken: vóór de raad- en overlegvergadering met de agendapunten en ná de vergaderingen met een kort verslag.

       
     Kort verslag 

      van de raads- en overlegvergadering van 23 september 2009: 

            Algemeen

      - Het aantal gevoerde ontwikkelingsgesprekken is nog steeds veel te laag. De medewerkers worden opgewekt zelf hiernaar te informeren bij hun leidinggevende.

      - Een onderdeel van CEES verzoekt inbedding bij ESRIG. Aangezien dit voor betrokken personeelsleden een organisatieverandering betreft moet besluitvorming hierover zorgvuldig. Het faculteitsbestuur zegt dit toe.

      - Over de Basis Kwalificatie Onderwijs (BKO) moet nog meer duidelijkheid komen. Dat wordt maatwerk voor zittende docenten. 

      ·            Meerjarenbegroting 2010-2013 (FR09-151, uiten gevoelen)

      Er zijn dit jaar enkele grote meevallers in de bijstelling van het loon- en prijsbeleid en in het leerlingenvolume, waardoor de FWN ca M? 2,1 extra heeft gekregen. Mede hierdoor (en door een strak vacaturebeleid) zal de negatieve reserve van de faculteit naar verwachting in 2010 licht positief worden. Wat daarna gebeurt is onzeker, vanwege de overheidsfinanciën en de bursalenkwestie. Na een toelichting van het faculteitsbestuur uit de personeelsgeleding, gesteund door de studentgeleding, een positief gevoelen over deze begroting.

      ·            Voortgang Graduate School of Science 

      Dit jaar is de GGSS gestart. Na overleg is besloten dat een evaluatie volgend jaar zal plaatsvinden. Op dit moment wordt hard gewerkt aan het stroomlijnen en uniformiseren van processen en aan het opstarten van cursussen en ontwikkelen van een 'guide' voor promovendi.

      ·            Plan van aanpak n.a.v. explosie in Nijenborgh 4 (FR09-152, ter instemming)

      De faculteitsraad is content met het inroepen van de hulp van TNO voor een second opinion naar de oorzaak van de explosie. De uitslag hiervan wordt eind september of begin oktober verwacht. Dit kan van invloed zijn op het plan van aanpak. De vraag is of het aardgasnet volledig moet worden vervangen, gezien het sterk gereduceerde gebruik van gas in de labs. Dit zal nader onderzocht worden. De personeelsgeleding, gesteund door de studentgeleding, stemt daarom nog niet in met het plan van aanpak.

      ·            A/M jaarverslag FWN 2008 (FR09-153, ter bespreking)

      Hierover zijn geen vragen.

      ·            A/M jaarplan FWN 2010 (FR09-154, ter instemming)

      Op het gebied van arbeidsomstandigheden en veiligheid valt altijd wat te verbeteren. In dit plan worden veel verbeterpunten per locatie opgevoerd.

      De faculteitsraad stemt in met dit A/M jaarplan.

      ·            Rondvraag

      De studentgeleding vraagt zich af of de kantine in de Bernoulliborg niet te klein is als het nieuwe gebouw voor Levenswetenschappen in 2010 in gebruik wordt genomen.

      Het bestuur erkent dit en geeft aan dat hierover wordt nagedacht.

      This newsletter appears once every three weeks: before the council meeting containing the agenda and afterwards with a short summary of the meeting
     Short summary

      of the council- and consultation meeting of 23rd September 2009:

      ·            General points

      -       The amount of career development interviews that have been carried out is still very low. The employees of our faculty are encouraged themselves to make inquiries by their managers. 

      -       A division of CEES requests to be brought under by ESRIG. Since this will result in an organisational change for the concerned staff, the decision process must be meticulous. The faculty board has promised this. 

      -       More clarity must be provided on the Basic Qualification Education (Basis Kwalificatie Onderwijs - BKO). This will become custom-made for the current lecturers.

      ·            Long-range budget 2010-2013 (FR09-151, expression of opinion)

      This year has seen a few large windfalls in the re-adjustment of the salary and price policy and in the student reimbursement resulting in the FWN receiving an extra ca M? 2,1. As a consequence of this (and by a strict vacancy policy) the negative reserve of the faculty is expected in 2010 to be slightly positive. What happens after this is unsure, due to the government finances and the bursary situation. After an explanation from the faculty board, personnel section, supported by the student section, expressed a positive opinion on this budget.

      ·            Progress Graduate School of Science

      This year has seen the start of GGSS. After discussion, it has been decided that an evaluation will take place next year. At this moment people are hard at work on the streamlining and uniform-making of the processes and the start-up of courses and development of a 'guide' for promovendi.

      ·            Plan of approach as a result of the explosion in Nijenborgh 4      (FR09-152, to be approved)

      The faculty council is satisfied with the enlisting of help from TNO for a second opinion on the cause of the explosion. The result of this is expected at the end of September/start of October. This can influence the plan of approach. The question is whether the natural gas net must be completely replaced seeing that the use of gas in labs has been strongly reduced. This will have to be studied further. The personnel division, supported by the student division, has therefore not yet voted on this plan of approach.

      ·            A/M annual report FWN 2008 (FR09-153, to be discussed)

      No questions on this matter

      ·            A/M year plan FWN 2010 (FR09-154, to be approved)

      There is always something to improve upon in the area of working conditions and safety. In this plan a lot of points of improvement will be carried out per location. The faculty council agrees with this A/M year plan.

      ·            Reports and Queries    

      The student division wonders whether the canteen in the Bernoulliborg will be too small when the new building for Life Sciences will be occupied. The board recognises this and indicates that this will be deliberated upon.
