Trainee Global Climate Policies/ Climate Diplomacy
The European Climate Foundation (ECF) is looking for a trainee to work
with the Global Climate Policies/Climate Diplomacy Programme. This
Programme is developing and implementing ECF’s strategy internationally.
It is working closely with the worldwide ClimateWorks network as well as
partners in civil society, business, academic research and public
authorities. The selected candidate will work closely with ECF’s staff–
in particular Jörg Haa(Program Director) but also other team members.
In specific he/she will
-conduct a mapping of the debate on linkages between solutions to the
global economic and financial crisis, and the move to a low carbon
economy mainly through online research;
-and help prepare a series of workshops with first rate strategic
thinkers on these issues.
-help prepare events that ECF is planning at the sides of COP17 in Durban.
In addition,he/she will
-review grant proposals and evaluate grantee reports,
-draft and edit documents,reports and presentations,
-manage foundation--initiated projects such as meetings, contracts and
reports,
-provide general administrative support(<15% of working time)
The trainee will get in depth insights in current global climate policy
issues and ECF’s programme areas, the opportunity to build a network, as
well asn learn about the instruments of strategic grant making and
processes of an international foundation.
We seek candidates that actively generate and implement ideas for
programme improvement, and offer great possibilities for professional
development and an excellent work atmosphere in a high performanceteam.
The ideal candidates should embody the following professional
qualifications and personal attributes:
• relevant work experience or academic background in macroeconomics,
international relations and/or finance,
• demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of ECF,
• superior written and verbal communication skills,
• proven ability to work well under pressure, take initiative and be a
creative problem--solver, to prioritize and juggle diverse tasks,
• ability to work well in a team and independently,
• fluency in English and one other European language (preferably German)
Start date: Preferably asap.
Duration: six months, eventually to be extended
Compensation: approx. € 1,000 monthly
